The College of Coastal Georgia is located in the small city of Brunswick, Georgia. Located near the southeastern coastline of Georgia, the college offers a number of academic programs for students. It is the most recent college facility in the state of Georgia, and is the fastest growing college in the Georgia Â鶹Íø System. About 3,000 students are enrolled at any one time.

The college offers nine bachelor degree and nearly 50 associates degree programs. Bachelor degree programs are available to students in business administration, biological sciences, health, and nursing and also offers education preparation in addition to bachelor degree programs. Some of the associate degree programs include chemistry, agricultural economics, fisheries and aquaculture, forestry, dental hygiene, political science, nursing, nursing, hospitality management and criminal justice. .
Students must apply to school at least thirty days before the school semester begins. Students also need to send transcripts or GED test scores to the admissions office as part of the admissions process. Georgia requires that all students must show proof of immunizations prior to the start of the school semester.
There are mandatory minimums on standardized tests for admission. A score of 430 SAT Critical Reading score must be met, or a 17 ACT score on English. If the minimum requirements are not met, the student will need to complete a COMPASS Placement Test.
About 80 percent of students receive some sort of financial aid. The college also offers scholarships. The College of Coastal Georgia Foundation offers 50 scholarships per year with a $1,000 award to students. The college also features a number of endowed scholarships in different areas of study. The Lucas Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students in the entrepreneurship program. Florida residents are eligible for the Ajax Building scholarship. Nursing students are eligible for the Bloodworth Nursing Scholarship with a 3.0 GPA. Students who score more than 1,000 on the SAT are eligible for the Dunn Endowment Scholarship.
The college has a bookstore, commons areas for students to gather and a number of coffee shops. Students may opt to use the student fitness health center, play a game on one of the tennis courts, or enjoy a movie. All students are encouraged to take a tour of the campus, including the newly renovated residential hall.
There are a number of clubs and organizations on campus. Student organizations include Mariner Athletics, Art Club, Astronomy Club, Brunswick Association of Nursing Students, Biology Club, Mariner’s Log Newspaper, Minority Academic Social Development Association, International Association, Golden Isles Arts and humanities Association, Non-Traditional Sports Group, Phi Theta Kappa, Soccer Club, Radiologic Technology Club, student Government Association, and Torchbearer’s Club. The student clubs and organizations are run by the Office of Student Life.
Teams participate in the National Junior Colleges Athletics Association (NJCAA). The men’s athletic teams are widely known as the “Mariners” and the women’s athletic teams are known as the “Lady Mariners”. Students can choose from basketball, golf, tennis, volleyball and softball.
Brunswick, Georgia is a historic small city in close proximity to the frequently visited southeast coastline of Georgia. Brunswick’s population is about 15,600 people. The city is known for its eye-catching landscapes, historic charm and coastline. The original buildings in Brunswick are maintained in their original capacity by the city. The city has a number of local amenities, including local art galleries, restaurants overlooking the shore and a number of waterfront activities.
The Coastal Symphony of Georgia, the Ritz Theatre and the Art Downtown cultural arts center provide arts and entertainment options for residents. The Art Downtown center houses a fine art gallery, studio and production company – the Brunswick Actors’ Theatre. The Gallery on Newcastle is also located in the city, and features scenes from Coastal Georgia marshes.
For sports, golf fans enjoy the PGA Tour’s McGladrey Classic, and the area is home to more than 250 holes of golf when including a number of nearby islands. The Atlanta Falcons National Football League team are within driving distance, and the city hosts a minor league baseball team, the River Snipes.
There are few beaches in the state of Georgia, and Brunswick is home to two. Other nearby beaches can be found on Jekyll Island and St. Simons island, which are known as the Golden Isles because they feature white-sand beaches are are magnets for tourists and locals. Beginning in fall 2011, all College of Coastal Georgia residents were given free special membership passes to them by the Jekyll Island Authority, which allows them full access to the island and its beaches. The school hosts programs, athletic events and a number of class-related activities on the island.
Brunswick is also known as the center of the shrimping industry in the state. At one time it was known as “The Shrimp Capital of the World. In recent years, the industry has seen production levels drop. Every year, Jekyll Island is home to the Wild Georgia Shrimp and Grits Festival. The area is also home to Georgia’s crab and oyster industry.
The college is accredited by a number of agencies. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools allows the school to grant degrees. Individual programs are accredited by the Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic Technology, the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, the National League for Nursing – Accrediting Commission, the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation.
